Opportunity for revenge in Hartberg

Three days after their home match at the Raiffeisen Arena, LASK faces TSV Hartberg once again. In their away fixture in the 28th round on Wednesday (6:30 PM, live on Sky Sport Austria) in Eastern Styria, the Athletiker aim to seek revenge for their 1-3 defeat.

With the match in Hartberg, the second half of the season in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga's Final Round kicks off. The previous five rounds have seen the Athletiker secure two wins, two draws, and one loss, maintaining their position at third place in the table. To uphold this position, the Schwarz-Weißen are aiming for their first away victory in this year's championship group. The last time the Upper Austrians took three points away in the final round was in May 2021, when they won 4-0 against Wolfsberg.

The home game on Sunday (post-match report) didn't go as planned for LASK. Despite Florian Flecker's temporary equalizer, the Athletiker suffered their first home defeat in the championship group. Armed with the lessons learned, the Linz team now aims to show a different side of their game in their second away fixture of the current season against Hartberg.

Just one defeat in 14 away matches

The Hartberg team is still waiting for their first home victory this calendar year. Following a goalless draw with LASK in February, they managed to secure draws against Sturm, but suffered defeats against Rapid and Graz. On the other hand, the Schwarz-Weißen have only faced one defeat in their last six away matches, keeping clean sheets in four of those encounters.

Although the last away victory in Eastern Styria was nearly four years ago, the overall record heavily favors Thomas Darazs' team. In 14 away matches across the top two tiers of Austrian football, LASK has secured seven wins and six draws, with only one occasion ending without points. This time Branko Jovicic is not available, as he had to be substituted on Sunday due to a minor muscle injury in his left calf.

After the home game against Hartberg, we've been working on identifying areas for improvement. We definitely need to be better prepared for turnovers and aim to get into the opponent's penalty area more often. Facing Hartberg will present us with similar challenges to those we encountered on Sunday. However, to come back successfully from Hartberg, we'll also need to bring at least the same level of performance in terms of attitude as we did in the game against Salzburg.
