LASK has announced their third signing of the winter transfer window. Following Samuel Adeniran and Mohamed Sanogo, 24-year-old midfielder Ismaila Coulibaly joins the Athletikers from Sheffield United. He has signed a contract until May 31, 2028.

Coulibaly started his career at the Oslo Football Academy in Dakar, and in 2019, he made the move to Europe, joining Norwegian top-tier club Sarpsborg. A year and a half later, the Malian was signed by then-English Premier League side Sheffield United and was immediately loaned out to Belgian club Beerschot VA.

At Beerschot, Coulibaly quickly became a key player, making 42 appearances over two seasons in the Jupiler Pro League, before returning to Sheffield United in the summer of 2022. In the spring of 2024, the midfielder, who had made his debut for the Mali national team at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2023, spent another loan spell at Swedish top-flight side AIK Solna. There, he played ten matches in the Allsvenskan, scoring two goals and providing one assist. Now, Coulibaly, who is primarily deployed in central midfield, has signed with LASK on a contract until May 31, 2028.

"With Ismaila Coulibaly, we gain a young player who has already gathered a lot of international experience. He provides us with more flexibility in our playing style, and I am really looking forward to working with him."
