From LASK to the German Bundesliga: This is the path taken by forward Marin Ljubičić, who will join 1. FC Union Berlin in the future. The 22-year-old played 100 competitive matches for the Athletiker. Ljubičić is the second most expensive transfer in LASK's history, though the exact transfer fee remains undisclosed.

The striker initially joined LASK on loan from Croatian top-tier club Hajduk Split in the summer of 2022. He quickly found his scoring form, netting nine goals in his first four competitive matches for the Athletiker. This included a four-goal performance in a 5-1 away victory against Wolfsberger AC.

In the current season, the Croatian U21 international, who was permanently signed by LASK in January 2023, made 26 appearances and scored five goals. Over two and a half years with the Upper Austrian club, Ljubičić played exactly 100 competitive matches, scoring 36 goals. With this tally, he ranks 22nd on LASK’s all-time top scorers list.

During his time at LASK, Ljubičić also made his mark on Croatia's U21 national team, recording nine goals in 19 appearances. Now, he strengthens German Bundesliga side Union Berlin, a club that has been competing in Germany’s top division since 2019 and participated in the UEFA Champions League for the first time last season.

LASK sincerely thanks Marin Ljubičić for his many goals and memorable moments at the club and wishes him all the best for the future!

We are proud that, after Keito Nakamura, we have now completed the second most expensive transfer in the club's history with Marin Ljubičić. This highlights not only Marin's strong development but also our progress as a club in recent years. The transfer demonstrates that LASK is an attractive destination and an ideal springboard for young players to make the leap to a top European league.

Marin Ljubičić has done a lot for LASK, and his goal tally speaks for itself. At just 22 years old, he is still a very young player, and we wish him all the best as he continues his journey in the German Bundesliga. I believe we have many exciting and diverse types of players in this position within our squad, who can also bring us great joy in the future.
