After their 3-0 victory against the regional league team Union Gurten, LASK knows their opponent for the second round of the UNIQA ÖFB Cup. As the draw on Sunday evening revealed, the Athletiker will face Sportunion Mauer.

The competitive season opener went as hoped for the Black-Whites last Friday, with Linz securing a 3-0 win against Gurten, marking the 21st consecutive time they have advanced past the first round of the ÖFB Cup. Now, coach Thomas Darazs' team will face Cup debutants Sportunion Mauer.

Last season, the Viennese team secured the championship title in the City League, thus earning promotion to the Regionalliga Ost. In the first round of the Cup, Union Mauer triumphed with a 14-0 victory over SPG ASK/HSV Klagenfurt.

The second round is scheduled for August 27th, 28th, and 29th. Since LASK will be competing in the UEFA Europa League playoff on August 29th, their match against Mauer will be rescheduled, likely to take place on September 17th, 18th, 19th, or 24th, 25th, 26th. The exact date will be announced once it is definitively fixed.

A very exciting draw. I watched this team play several times last season. They are a club with great ambitions in Vienna and a truly exemplary approach. Additionally, they have one or two very interesting young players who will surely play at a higher level than the Regionalliga in the future. We will approach this Cup match with the same intensity as we did against Gurten.

Thomas Darazs, Head Coach
