Jungwirth permanently promoted to the first team – Siebenhandl joins Admira
The winter transfer window brings a change to the goalkeeper team at LASK. Jörg Siebenhandl bids farewell after one and a half seasons to join second-division club FC Admira Wacker. Meanwhile, Lukas Jungwirth, who briefly played as a cooperative player with the Lower Austrian club last autumn, is now permanently part of the professional squad of the Athletiker.
Jungwirth has been lacing up his boots for the Black and Whites since the age of ten, progressing through all age groups in the LASK Academy. He made his debut for the Linz second team in July 2020, and last autumn, he had his first appearance with the professional team. The 20-year-old has made three appearances in the UEFA Conference League and three in the Bundesliga for the Upper Austrians. Additionally, he had six appearances as a cooperative player for Admira Wacker. LASK is planning long-term with the homegrown player, who has already completed the entire winter pre-season with the Athletikers.
Lukas Jungwirth stays in the first team of LASK.
In his place, Jörg Siebenhandl is joining Admira Wacker immediately. The 35-year-old had spent several years in the youth ranks with the Lower Austrian club and also played for them from November 2014 to the summer of 2016. Now, the Vienna native returns to his former youth club and current league leaders of the 2. Liga. After joining LASK in the summer of 2023 from SK Sturm Graz, the veteran goalkeeper made 21 appearances for the Linz club, 19 of which were in the current season. LASK thanks Jörg Siebenhandl for his dedication and performances and wishes him all the best in his new challenge!
„
Jörg Siebenhandl played a very important role for us and always supported our young goalkeepers in an exemplary manner. Even in the autumn season, he showed in his appearances that we could rely on him at any time. I wish Jörg all the best for his new challenge at Admira. At the same time, we are very happy that Tobias Lawal is fully fit again, and that we have Lukas Jungwirth permanently with us, which means we are in a strong position in terms of goalkeeping.
Markus Schopp, Head Coach
„
Jörg is an extremely deserving player who has contributed a lot to LASK. We have now honored his wish to return to his youth club, and we wish him the greatest success at Admira. LASK has had high quality in goalkeeping for many years, and with Tobias Lawal, Lukas Jungwirth, Clemens Steinbauer, and several very talented young goalkeepers behind them, we can be sure that this will continue to be the case in the future.
