LASK and head coach Thomas Sageder are parting ways effective immediately. Following a thorough analysis of the current sporting situation, the club has reached the decision to make a change in the coaching position ahead of the remaining seven rounds in the Bundesliga championship group.

The team will be coached on an interim basis by Maximilian Ritscher until the end of the season. The 30-year-old, holder of the UEFA A license, previously served as an assistant coach at the club and will be supported by Thomas Darazs, who will return to his original role as academy director in the summer, as assistant coach. The previous assistants Marcel Lücke and Christoph Tebel are no longer part of the coaching staff.

Interim coach Ritscher began his coaching career in the LASK academy after retiring from playing in 2018, and later served as an assistant coach at FC Juniors starting from the summer of 2020. In winter 2022, he joined the coaching staff of the first team, and has been involved in 92 games since then.

Thomas Sageder took over as head coach of the team last summer and managed the team in 37 competitive matches. LASK would like to express its sincere gratitude to Sageder and his team for their dedicated efforts and wishes them all the best for their future careers!

We did not take this decision lightly. However, recent developments in the sport have led us to provide the team with a fresh impetus. It is now time to roll up our sleeves together and make the most out of the remaining seven rounds. We are confident that with Maximilian Ritscher as interim coach, we have chosen the best solution for this task. We would like to thank Thomas Sageder for his work and wish him all the best for the future.

Radovan Vujanovic, CEO Sports

Until the end, we were convinced of the path we shared with Thomas Sageder. He gave his all for LASK until the last moment and invested an enormous amount of energy. Nevertheless, we are now looking positively towards the future and hoping to unleash new energies for the final seven games in the championship group. Maximilian Ritscher was the obvious choice for us. He knows the club and the team inside out, has ample experience in the professional business, and enjoys our full trust.
