Friendly game against Gurten successful
LASK concluded their final test match of the winter preparation with a successful result. The Athletikers defeated Regionalliga side Union Gurten 2-0 in a match played over three 45-minute halves at the training center of the Raiffeisen Arena. Marco Sulzner (71') and Marin Ljubicic (85') were responsible for the two goals.
In the first of the three game segments, the character of the match quickly became clear. LASK controlled the game, passing the ball around in their own half, while the Innviertler focused primarily on defensive work. Against the highly compact opponents, it was initially difficult to break through. The best chances came from Robert Zulj with a direct free kick and Florian Flecker, who was thwarted by keeper Elias Jagereder just before the halftime whistle.
In the second segment, the Linzers increased the tempo and created significantly more chances. Maximilian Entrup was set up by Zulj but was blocked just in time (52'). Shortly after, the opposing goalkeeper was again on hand to stop a Flecker attempt, and a header from central defender Armin Midzic was kept out by the crossbar. Zulj also missed the target after a Jovicic assist.
A Spectacular Opening Goal by Sulzner
After 71 minutes, the dominance finally reflected in the score. Marco Sulzner seized the opportunity from nearly 25 meters out, perfectly placing the ball into the bottom right corner. A quarter of an hour later, Sascha Horvath made a perfect pass to new signing Samuel Adeniran, who cleverly rounded the rushing goalkeeper and selflessly set up teammate Marin Ljubicic, who slotted in for the 2-0 (85').
There was no change in the game dynamics during the third segment. LASK maintained control throughout, allowing almost nothing except for a few quick counter-attacks, which they defended well. The Linzers also created danger themselves, with a Horvath attempt (94'), a Smolcic header (96') from a corner, and a powerful shot from Keba Cisse (98'). The Athletikers kept pushing to maintain the tempo and increase their goal tally. Despite further incursions into the opponent's box, the final score remained 2-0. Next Sunday marks the start of the competitive season with a cup quarterfinal at the Raiffeisen Arena against RB Salzburg.

It was important to give the players plenty of playing time today. The positive aspect is that we didn't concede any goals and rewarded ourselves with two goals. The preparation was extremely intense, and the guys really pushed themselves. Today's game gives us a good feeling as a conclusion and, on certain positions, also a bit of confirmation.
