Double Transfer: LASK Signs Attacking Duo

LASK strengthens its squad with the fourth and fifth signings of the winter transfer window: Christoph Lang joins the Athletikers from SK Rapid and signs a contract until May 31, 2027. Krystof Danek arrives from Czech record champions Sparta Prague. The 22-year-old U21 international is on loan until the summer, with LASK holding a purchase option.

Both players are offensive-minded and versatile across multiple positions. Christoph Lang joined Rapid from SK Sturm Graz last winter, making 31 competitive appearances for the Hütteldorf club, contributing five goals and five assists. Before that, the native of Deutschlandsberg, who was developed in Sturm’s academy, played 19 matches for Sturm’s first team, 17 games for SV Ried, and 20 for TSV Hartberg.

LASK head coach Markus Schopp knows Lang well from their time together, during which the Styrian recorded five goals and four assists in the fall of 2023. Lang was also a key player for Austria’s U21 national team, earning 15 caps since his debut in November 2022 and scoring four goals. In March 2023, Ralf Rangnick included him in the senior national team squad for the first time. Now, LASK has successfully secured the 1.83m-tall attacking player from SK Rapid on a contract until the summer of 2027.

Appearances in the Champions League

Mit Danek sicherte sich der LASK die Dienste eines aktuellen tschechischen U21-Teamspielers, der sich im Herbst mit seiner Auswahl für die EM-Endrunde 2025 in der Slowakei qualifizierte. Für Rekordmeister Sparta Prag lief er heuer 15-mal auf, darunter dreimal in der UEFA Champions League gegen Manchester City, Bayer Leverkusen und Stade Brest. Mit dem Traditionsklub aus der tschechischen Hauptstadt krönte er sich 2022 zum nationalen Champion.

Trotz seiner erst 22 Jahre verfügt der Offensivakteur bereits über reichlich Erfahrung und bestritt insgesamt 102 Partien in der höchsten Spielklasse seines Heimatlandes. In diesen trat er nicht nur als 13-facher Torschütze, sondern auch als zehnfacher Vorlagengeber in Erscheinung. Den Sprung zum Profi schaffte Danek bei Sigma Olmütz, in der vergangenen Saison war der Linksfuß an den FK Pardubice verliehen. Nun schließt sich der Tscheche leihweise dem LASK an, der auch über eine Kaufoption verfügt.
